The Ruxomar Resurgence Vol.2 Ch.6. 'Ping Pong'

Logan Kuro is asleep in his quarters, when his intercom system alerted him to an incoming message.  Logan got up and activated his terminal.  "Captain Kuro here.  What can I do for you, Admiral?" Logan said, still waking up.  "Logan, please come to my office as soon as you can.  Bring a cup of coffee with you."  "Aye, sir.  I'll be down in 10 minutes."  Logan changed into his uniform and made his way to the Admiral's office.  "Come in."  "Good morning, Logan.  Let's get to business.  Construction on the Athens is scheduled to be completed by the end of this week.  However, today, you will be taking the Athens on it's shakedown cruise."  The Admiral handed him a PADD.  "I've approved your first official mission to head to Ruxomar 5 to pick up a very special member of your crew.  Jade's cat, Ping Pong."  Logan took a sip of his coffee as he looked over the PADD.  "Aye, Sir.  I'm sure that Jade will be very happy to hear about this."  "As am I.  You're scheduled to depart at 10:00. Notify your crew and prepare accordingly."  "Yes Sir."  

Logan made his way to the area that his bridge crew was staying at.  He made his way to Jade's quarters first.  "One second!"  A few seconds later, Jade opened the door to her quarters, still in her sleeping attire.  "Morning, Captain, what's up?"  "Morning Jade.  I've been given our first mission.  Today, we'll be heading to Ruxomar 5, to pick up the last member of our bridge crew, Ping Pong."  "Really!?"  "You bet.  I just got done talking to the admiral, we leave in 3 hours.  You should hurry up and get ready."  "Aye, sir... Wait, I have a question... you said... "Bridge Crew"... didn't you?"  Logan let out a little laugh.  "I sure did.  I've got the perfect station for Ping Pong, you'll see."  He made his to the rest of his officers quarters.  

Passage of Time:  2 hours, 45 minutes.
Location:  R.X.S. Athens bridge.

Logan and Claire walked out of a turbolift onto the bridge. "Captain on the bridge!" Teva rang out, the rest of the bridge turning their attention to the captain.  "At ease, we're not officially out yet."  Logan opened up a ship-wide channel.  "Attention all hands, this is Captain Logan Kuro.  Today, we take the Athens on her first official mission.  This will provide us all with the chance to have our first hands on experience to see how the Athens checks out.  Godspeed.  Captain Kuro, out."  "Teva, do we have our clearance to leave spacedock?"  "Aye Captain."  "Very well, take us out, maneuvering thrusters until we are out of range of dock, then set a course for Ruxomar 5, warp 8."  "Aye Captain, course set."  "Engage!"

"Captain, we are entering orbit around Ruxomar 5."  "Thank you, Teva.  Bring us out of warp and into transporter range of Jade's home."  "Jade and Claire, transporter room 3."  Teva interrupted. "Uh, captain... the transporter system isn't available, yet.  The engineers haven't wired it to the power grid yet."  Logan sighed. "You can't be serious."  "I am.  The construction log says that they were going to be wired on Tuesday."  "Very well, then we'll take a shuttle to the surface.  Jade, Claire, let's head to shuttle bay 2.  Teva, please notify them of our arrival."  "Aye, sir."  "You have the bridge until we return, Teva."  They made their way to the shuttle bay.  

"Captain, shuttlecraft 3 is ready for you."  "Thank you, lieutenant."  Claire, Jade, and Logan boarded the shuttlecraft and landed just outside of Jade's house.  "Computer, Jade Valeska.  Confirmation Jade-5-7-2-Alpha-4."  Jade Valeska, recognized.  Secondary access code required.  "Access code Jade-7-9-9-Phi-9."  Access Granted, welcome home, Jade.  Welcome, guests of Jade.  They all walked into her living room.  "Ping Pong? Come here kitty!"  From seemingly out of nowhere, Ping Pong came running, greeting the crew with meowing and purring.  "Ahh! I've missed you!"  Claire jumped with happiness.  "Jade!  He's so adorable! Can I pet him!?"  "Sure! Try and keep him entertained, I need to ask Logan something."  "Hey Logan, I should've asked this before, but can I bring all of his stuff, too?  Like his towers and scratching posts?"  "Of course,  I'll signal the Athens to... oh wait... the transporters... Tuesday... I forgot.  We'll carry it to the shuttle, it's not that far."  "Thank you!  I'll help you carry."  They carried everything they wanted to the shuttle.  Logan hailed the Athens.  "Hey, Teva, you guys still up there?"  "We're here."  "Great.  We're on our way up, please notify the shuttle bay to prepare for docking."  Within minutes they successfully docked with the Athens.  "I'll assign some crew members to help carry your stuff to your quarters here on the Athens, Claire and I have to get back to the bridge."  "Thank you, Logan.  See you sometime later."  Claire and Logan made their way to the bridge.

"Captain on the Bridge!  Welcome back, Logan!  How'd it go?"  "Well, the transporter issue gave us a small problem, but other than that, our first mission was successful."  "Glad to hear it, the Athens is all yours again."  "Thanks for keeping her safe, Teva.  Set a course back to Starbase 57.  Warp 8, Eng"- Logan was interrupted by a sound coming from the communications console.  "Captain... we are receiving a... distress call... from a nearby system.  The Zakarri system, Zakarri 6.  We're the closest ship."  "There's no one closer?  Details?"  "No sir, we're the closest.  It's a general distress call, no details we're given."  "Hail them."  "Aye sir... no response."  "Hail the Admiral."  "Logan, what can I do for you?"  "Admiral, we have received a general distress call, from Zakarri 6.  We want to go and investigate."  "Very well, permission granted.  You should be well enough equipped to handle most situations." "Thank you, Admiral."  Teva closed the channel at Logan's command.  "Alright, set a course for Zakarri 6, warp 12.  Keep trying to hail them."  "Aye, sir."
